Das neue Gästehaus wurde für die Unterbringung von (Post)Doktoranden und Professoren aus Chile und Südamerika bei ihren mehrmonatigen Aufenthalten in Freiberg errichtet. Dr. Erika Krüger finanzierte die Errichtung des Gästehauses mit über einer Million Euro aus privaten Mitteln.
