Modeling and Optimization of Chemical Reactors

thumbnail of channel Modeling and Optimization of Chemical Reactors

The first part of the module deals with the modeling of chemical reactors. The focus is on fixed bed processes, syntheses and fluidized bed processes. Both computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the discrete element method are used for the calculation of debris flows.

The second part of the module focuses on the optimization of chemical reactors. This includes selected basics of process optimization as well as different methods for model reduction. Building on this, software tools are presented that enable efficient, practical and user-friendly optimization of process engineering processes.

Finally, the third part of the module presents AI-based approaches that enable drastically accelerated model creation, process calculation and process optimization.

In accompanying seminars and practicals, students get to know various software tools and use them to calculate and optimize simple process engineering processes.
